The "Transition" Story

Not a lot to say but Mals Dad owned the van from new back in 1973 and Mal picked it up from dad in April 1977. This is at least the second Transit that Mal has owned. The van originally had the stock 2 ltr V4 engine but this was changed to a 3 ltr V6 Granada engine for a number of years before changing again to the 302 V8. Mal currently has 2 engines for the van which is also used for Drag Racing. One is modified, the other is stock. The van has run 15.75 @ 90 MPH at Champion Dragway, Meremere with the modified engine and 16.8 with the stock/tired one.

Mal has been into vanning since the mid 70's and after a break for a number of years is now back into the sport having proudly picked up Best Unfinished at the 2003 Van Nationals in Tauranga. You may have seen Mal around in his roll as photographer for the NZ Hot Rod Magazine. He loves cruisin' and meeting people associated with Vanning, Rodding and Drag Racing and looks forward to future vanning events with his partner Lynda.
